East Midlands MEP, Roger Helmer has taken lease of a new office, choosing to stay in the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough.
The office, which is on the main Leicester Road, offers an ideal location from which Roger can engage with the concerns of his constituents.
Along with his new office, Roger has also set up an experienced and enthusiastic team of staff both in the UK and Brussels, to liaise with the public in the work that he does from the European Parliament.
Running his office in Market Harborough is Paul Oakden, acting as Roger´s Constituency Manager. Paul left a senior management role in the private sector to join Roger in helping with his constituency work. Prior to that, Paul had spent time helping to organise parliamentary campaigns in the East Midlands, a region in which he has lived his whole life.
Working from his office in Brussels, Roger has Francesca Salierno and Alexandra Swann.
Francesca hails from the beautiful Italian city of Naples, where she qualified as a lawyer last year. Her interest in European law and politics brought her to the European Parliament, where she quickly established herself before joining Roger’s office. She now runs Roger’s office in Brussels and advises him on the Industry, Research and Energy Committee.
Alexandra, like Mr Helmer has also recently joined UKIP from the Conservative Party and was formerly Deputy Chairman of Conservative Future, gaining Parliamentary experience via Westminster offices of Conservative MPs. In addition to working in his Brussels office, she is undertaking a doctorate in Intellectual History on the subject of Herbert Spencer and 19th C Libertarianism and has been published in the Guardian, Guardian2
